Mission Statement for Position
The Mid to Senior-level Network / Systems Engineer reports to the ATIC Operations and Technology
Manager and provides detailed reports on the status of all events, tasks and projects, both upcoming and
present. The candidate will provide a wide spectrum of Information Technology services to support the
ATIC.
This is a Government position which requires U.S. citizenship.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide technical support to run projects, while keeping all parties abreast of the progress and
provide deliverables by expected due dates.
• Engineer, deploy, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks
• Install, configure and manage server hardware and network operating systems
• Manage switched architecture to include creating VLANs, managing VTP domains, spanning tree,
and port security.
• Monitor networking equipment and maintain activity logs.
• Configure and maintain systems (firewall, router, and server) security policies
• Document systems and network infrastructure in various written formats (VISIO, MS Project,
Word, etc.)
• Manage the health of the network via SNMP tools
• Configure and manage an intrusion detection system (IDS) and respond to threats as necessary.
• Install, configure and manage various Microsoft applications
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education
A Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years experience, or a combination of certifications and 6-8 years
experience in information technology, networking design, management, and implementation is required.

Professional level vendor certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, MCSE, JNCIA, and SSCP/CISSP
are highly desired.
B. Experience
Four to six years of broad experience is required in network management and design. In-depth
understanding of Windows based systems and applications, network protocols, network and systems
security are required. Additionally, the ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices and systems
such as routers, switches and servers is mandatory. The Senior Network / Systems Engineer must also
be able to document and communicate solutions and manage short and long-term projects as necessary.
