Cisco's patent/copyright lawsuit is the best thing that ever happened to Arista Networks

I mean, Cisco has made it personal by taunting former Cisco inventors and executives now working for Arista.

CiscoAristaWhen I first learned about Cisco's patent/copyright lawsuit against Arista Networks, what came to my mind was that old idiom:

Be careful what you wish for!

Why?

Because in just a single blog post, Cisco self-destructively managed to instantly re-energize its most lethal switching competitor, Arista Networks.

How so?

Well, here's the "money shot" in the Cisco blog post:

"They were patented by individuals who worked for Cisco and are now at Arista, or who at Cisco worked with executives who are now at Arista.

I mean, Cisco has made it personal by taunting former Cisco inventors and executives now working for Arista.

Personally, I've got to wonder if Cisco understands what motivates individuals to outperform.

I'll even go so far as to compare Cisco's patent/copyright lawsuit to the attack on Pearl Harbor (substituting Cisco as the attacking German torpedo planes and substituting Arista as the U.S. Pacific Fleet under surprise attack).

And we all know who eventually won that war!

Good job Cisco at turning what was simply a superb competitor, Arista Networks, into your absolute worst competitive nightmare.

Paybacks a bitch in my personal opinion and Cisco's patent/copyright lawsuit is the best thing that ever happened to Arista Networks because it's now totally re-energized (I mean, there's still some things that money just can't buy, especially Cisco's money).
